WWE Changes Up Xavier Woods & Zelina Vega’s Names After Tournament Wins

By | October 26, 2021

The run to WWE Crown Jewel was very eventful for two WWE superstars who won tournaments that concluded in Saudi Arabia. Both Xavier Woods and Zelina Vega won and received crowns. It seems WWE wants to bring new elements to their personas, starting off with their names first.

Xavier Woods was initially planned to be dubbed “King Xavier” after his win over Finn Balor. However, PW Insider reports that the name change for Woods is planned to be different. That’s why the SmackDown’s King of the Ring coronation ceremony revealed his name to be “King Woods.”

Zelina Vega also won big at the tournament after beating Doudrop in an uphill battle. She was billed “Queen Zelina” and she has already taken to acting the part rather effortlessly. Her coronation took place at Monday Night RAW, where she gave her first royal proclamation while slipping in and out of a British accent the whole time. She then proceeded to win over Doudrop again in a Crown Jewel rematch.

Vega is obviously having a great time as WWE royalty. Vince McMahon personally congratulated her backstage after her big win. AEW superstar and husband to Vega, Malakai Black explained that his marriage with Vega gets under strain due to travelling and distance issues. Now he is married to royalty. On the other hand, King Woods is living out a childhood dream as King of the King.

We’ll have to see how long those names last for Woods and Vega. After all, a royal gimmick like that can stick with a Superstar for a long time.
