Artists Writers & Artisans Studios (AWA Studios), an independent graphic fiction publisher with the biggest names in comics and film–including J. Michael Straczynski, Mike Deodato Jr., Garth Ennis, Steve Epting, and Frank Cho–is set to exhibit at Baltimore Comic-Con Booth #3401 on October 22-24th, 2021. This exhibition will mark the publisher’s return to the convention scene after launching their company at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
Despite the global crisis, the publisher has consistently made the top 100 comics on ICV2’s comic/graphic novel sales lists. AWA Studios has recently announced that TOP GUN: MAVERICK director Joseph Kosinski is set to direct the Warner Bros adaptation of their hit series CHARIOT by Bryan Edward Hill, Priscilla Petraites, and Marco Lesko, with more announcements to come.
Comic fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet AWA Studios CCO Axel Alonso, Associate Editor Dulce Montoya, Managing Editor Will Graves, Assistant Editor Thea Cheuk, Digital Marketing Manager Jackie Liu, and Marketing, Sales, and PR Consultant Lisa Y. Wu at the publisher’s booth. Fans can also stop at the booth to enjoy the publisher’s free prize wheel and explore its line of comics and graphic novels, great booth deals, and mystery totes.
The staff is ready to personally thank comic fans for supporting the comics that they have produced. According to CCO Axel Alonso, “AWA Studios have come so far over the past year and a half, thanks to the support of our fans, and in spite of a global pandemic that, coincidentally, was the genesis of our flagship comic THE RESISTANCE by J. Michael Straczynski and Mike Deodato Jr. We are thrilled to hear how much joy our comics have brought our fans online via social media, but now we get to engage and thank our fans in person at Baltimore Comic-Con.”
Fans will get a free opportunity to take a spin on the AWA Studios Prize Wheel (Booth #3401) for a chance to take home rare ashcans, comics, and a limited edition convention exclusive AWA Studios Mystery Tote, a value of over $80 for only $50.
The publisher is also set to give an entertaining and informative panel titled AWA PUTS CREATOR INTO CREATOR-OWNED on Sunday, October 24th from 2-3pm in Room 322. Be sure to join AWA CCO Axel Alonso, Emmy Award winner Frank Cho (FIGHT GIRLS, LIBERTY MEADOWS), Amazon’s original series THE BOYS creator Garth Ennis (MARJORIE FINNEGAN: TEMPORAL CRIMINAL, PREACHER), and AWA Associate Editor Dulce Montoya as they discuss how AWA Studios supports creator-owned graphic fiction and how their experienced team is capable of bringing these projects into other realms of entertainment.
