Webtoon has made a big splash around the world with millions of readers logging on every month to read the quirky and creative comic series, and now some of the most popular comics are jumping off the page and onto the television screen. This month, Rakuten Viki, the largest streaming service for Asian content, is bringing three highly anticipated new Webtoon series to life with a K-Drama spin on it.
If you’re looking for your next Webtoon inspired show to binge this fall, check out Reborn Rich, which follows a worker at the Soonyang Conglomerate who takes care of the powerful family until he is then falsely accused of embezzlement and killed by their youngest son. He is later reincarnated as that son and decides to take revenge on the Soonyang Conglomerate family and take over the entire company. Reborn Rich features the popular Korean actor Song Joong Ki, who previously starred in Descendants of the Sun, Vincenzo (Netflix), Sungkyunkwan Scandal.
Similarly, Unlock the Boss, based on a Webtoon of the same name, centers around a genius CEO of a large corporation who accidentally died and became a smartphone and then works together with a young job seeker to find his killer. Another Webtoon based series coming to Rakuten Viki is the coming of age story, Summer Strike, where after the recent death of her mother, Summer (AOA’s Seolhyun) decides to quit her stressful city job and move to a small beachside town.
