Priest puts a cap on possibly one of the greatest tales to spin out of the Dynamite catalogue. As every issue previously built towards this team up, it’s just all the more satisfying to see the Six work together in tandem (even with all the potshots & bickering). Though there wasn’t a concrete conclusion to the story Chastity was telling her baby, the story behind Victory’s ring is finally fleshed out & Ramos couldn’t have drew it any better ! So … Closure ! Besides, Vampirella isn’t going anywhere, so Chastity’s tale can be expanded on another time in another volume. Perhaps a new Chastity standalone, because let’s not forget, “Sacred Six” is a Vampirella book, but Priest makes that tough to remember as the other issues mostly saw Vampi on a slab. Her resurrection is a welcome event, but Priest intelligently decides to not shift the focus entirely on the returning star, and treats the whole Six as was designed – forget the main character, Sacred Six are the main team.
And it’s only fitting that in an issue called “Armageddon” the Six mix it up with a cult, brainwashed as always. Heavy on Christian mythos doctrine, some of the passages in these panels become an effort to slog through – but thankfully this book is not only accompanied with portraits of gore but a snark that can only be found coming out of the mouth of a Draculina. Pantha going ham , Nyx playing pyro and all with dialogue that would bore a child to spiritual death in Sunday school countered with attitude and cynical humor of characters that you can believe have been around for more than a century. Lilith would be proud to see her daughters work together so well under Priest’s pen & Ramos’ pencils – if they united under her devious prerogatives of course …
