Black Butler season 4 release date, plot & more
Crunchyroll holds the license to stream Black Butler season 4, which will begin airing on April 13, 2024. Earlier, this dark fantasy and supernatural anime was available for streaming on Funimation. However, with news of Funimation merging with Crunchyroll, fans can now rely on the latter to watch the upcoming season.
Crunchyroll, describing the plot of the anime, writes, “Ciel Phantomhive is the most powerful boy in all of England, but he bears the scars of unspeakable suffering. Forced to watch as his beloved parents were brutally murdered, Ciel was subsequently abducted and violently tortured.”
The streaming platform goes on to articulate, “Desperate to end his suffering, the boy traded his own soul for a chance at vengeance, casting his lot with the one person on whom he could depend: Sebastian, a demon Butler summoned from the very pits of hell. Together, they’ll prowl the darkest alleys of London on a mission to snuff out those who would do evil.”
The epic journey of Black Butler began when Yana Toboso published the manga in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy magazine in September 2006. Yen Press then launched the manga in English.
Since then, A-1 Pictures adapted the manga into an anime television series and a two-part theatrical original video animation (OVA). The upcoming television series adaptation, which will feature the Public School Arc, is being directed by Kenjirou Okada at CloverWorks. Moreover, Hiroyuki Yoshino is credited as the season’s scriptwriter while Riyo Kawasaki is handling the music production.
