EA Will ‘Continue to Invest’ in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Franchise

By | August 4, 2021

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the most acclaimed Star Wars games and it sounds like there’s more where that came from. Publisher Electronic Arts said in a recent conference call that it will “continue to invest” in the franchise, paving the way for a potential Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2 or something else within the same universe with a slightly different name or subtitle.

Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad tweeted out this declaration from the conference call. There was nothing else in the tweet concerning Star Wars, meaning EA didn’t give any other sort of hints concerning this potential sequel or follow-up. It was just the willingness to continue investing in the “franchise” and nothing more.

However, another Star Wars game from Respawn makes sense because of how much of a hit the first game was. Respawn said in June 2021 that over 20 million people have played Jedi: Fallen Order. And while a percentage of that can be chalked up to it being on EA Play and Game Pass, that’s still means a hefty amount of people bought the game. EA also said a year prior in May 2020 that the title had sold 10 million copies, a number that has undoubtedly grown in the 15 months since. Reports of the Dead Space remake have even cited Fallen Order as a success and a reason that EA saw value in making more single-player games.
