Nearly two years after the project was first announced to be in development, the Ilana Glazer-starring and co-written horror pic False Positive from A24 has found a home at Hulu with plans to debut sometime in 2021, according to Variety.

Co-written by Glazer in her feature writing debut and director John Lee (The Last O.G., Broad City) on a story co-developed by Alissa Nutting and Lee, the film is described as a contemporary Rosemary’s Baby and centers on Lucy (Glazer), who has struggled to get pregnant with her partner Adrian (Justin Theroux, The Leftovers) and the two then turn to their dream fertility specialist, Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan, James Bond franchise). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him and her own “birth story.”

It’s going to be insane,” Glazer said in an episode of the Variety and iHeart podcast The Big Ticket With Marc Malkin. “It’s about the patriarchy…as expressed through medicine.

In addition to Glazer, Brosnan and Theroux, the cast for the film will also include Zainab Jah (The Good Lord Bird), Gretchen Mol (Manchester by the Sea), Sophia Bush (Love, Victor, Chicago Med), Josh Hamilton (13 Reasons Why, Eighth Grade) and Kelly AuCoin (The Good House, Billions). Glazer also produced the film with Lee and Jonathan Wang.

Hulu’s acquisition of False Positive not only sees the film join a library already full of acclaimed efforts such as the sci-fi comedy Palm Springs, horror satire Bad Hair, Hitchcockian thriller Run and gay holiday rom-com Happiest Season, it also marks the latest collaboration between A24 and the streaming platform, its most notably being the award-winning seres Ramy from eponymous creator/star Youssef. It also comes on the heels of the service’s announcement at last week’s Disney Investor Day that they would continue to ramp up their original film library following the successes of said films.
