According to the report, the move comes with the expectation that both Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler will reprise their roles in the sequel. A script by James Vanderbilt is already in place, with Garelick set to revise the script as needed. The outlet also reports that the film will shoot in both Paris and the Caribbean.
The original film, which was released on the streaming service in 2019, followed Nick Spitz (Sandler) and Audrey Spitz (Aniston), a married couple who are thrust into a murder investigation while on a billionaire’s yacht. Not much else is known about the sequel just yet, but it seems as if Netflix is ready to commit to more films from Sandler, who has now done a handful of original features for the company.

The sequel to Murder Mystery will be the third feature film directed by Garelick after he directed the 2015 comedy The Wedding Ringer and 2020’s The Binge. Garelick has also worked with Aniston before, having both written and produced the 2006 film The Break-Up starring Aniston and Vince Vaughn.
