Jujutsu Kaisen is reigning over the universe of anime with its spectacular plot twists and the fans’ beloved Shibuya Incident arc. The arc has brought an important moment in the series for the fans to enjoy, signaling the appearance of Sukuna – the King of Curses.

Watch the compilation of Yuji Itadori swallowing Sukuna’s fingers here:

This tragic development stems from the unique and inexplicable connection between Yuji Itadori and Sukuna. Yuji, the vessel, carries Sukuna within him. And, he possesses the rare ability to suppress Sukuna’s formidable and evil influence. Despite Yuji’s control, however, a very crucial condition remains. The stipulation was evident in the recent episode of Jujutsu Kaisen. It states that to maintain dominance over Sukuna, Yuji must ingest his cursed fingers individually. As such, if he consumes multiple fingers simultaneously, Sukuna regains power and control temporarily.

How many fingers did Yuji eat in the anime?

Up until the recent episode in the anime, i.e. season 2 episode 15, Itadori has consumed a whole 15 finger’s belonging to the King of Curses. His initial ingestion occurred while attempting to rescue Megumi Fushiguro in season 1. In the same season, Gojo provided the second finger to Yuji so that he could assess his vessel capabilities. The third finger was extracted by Sukuna from a Curse Womb and as things transpired, Sukuna consumed the finger himself while using Yuji as a vessel.

The fourth finger, too, was devoured by Sukuna on his own as he manifested a mouth on Yuji’s hand. This finger was entrusted by Megumi for gatekeeping, but, well, who could gate-keep anything from the King of Curses? As for the fifth finger, Mimiko and Nanako fed it to Yuji. When it comes to the remaining ten fingers, fans who followed the series know how Jogo arrived and administered all of them in one go.

Of course, Yuji gained a lot of strength after he ingested all these fingers, but he had to face a terrible consequence because of it. He temporarily lost control of his body for approximately half an hour, during which Sukuna went rampant. He caused a massacre in Shibuya. As a result, countless individuals had to lose their lives, including Mimiko and Jogo.

Even though Sukuna caused this evil tragedy, Yuji bears its burden because of his host-like association with Sukuna. How the events turn out to be will be a matter of keeping up with the upcoming episodes. Naturally, the fans are extremely excited to see if their speculations and theories for what will transpite turn out to be valid.
