Lionsgate Acquires Kevin Coughlin & Ryan Grassby's Mother Land

After a year full of delays, shifts to streaming, and empty movie theaters, all the studios are eager to move into the future with full schedules and an audience that’s hopefully ready to return to their local cinema. To that effect, Lionsgate has announced the release dates for three of their upcoming films.

Premiering on August 20 of this year, actioner The Protege (previously known as The Asset) stars Samuel L. Jackson and Maggie Q in a revenge thriller that also stars Michael Keaton as an amorous but deadly foe. The film was written by Richard Wenk and is directed by Martin Cambell (Casino Royale)

Shotgun Wedding is a Jennifer Lopez vehicle releasing June 29, 2022, that many may already be aware of thanks to Armie Hammer leaving the film due to a social media scandal. Now co-starring Josh Duhamel, this romantic comedy/action hybrid has two opinionated families meeting for a traditional wedding only to find themselves taken hostage and working together to save the happy couple’s special day.

On September 16, 2022, audiences can sit down for the adaption of White Bird: A Wonder Story. Based on a novel by RJ Palacia, the film depicts a couple hiding from Nazis in wartime France escaping into a world they create for themselves before they eventually escape into each other’s arms. Marc Foster (Christopher Robin) directs a script written by Mark Bombeck, with Gillian Anderson and Helen Mirren in featured roles.
