Mischa Barton is set to portray the lead role in the upcoming crime thriller Invitation To A Murder, according to a report from Deadline.

The upcoming film will be directed by Stephen Shimek and will be written by Brian O’Donnell. Barton will play the role of an aspiring detective who comes upon a mysterious invitation to a party thrown by a reclusive billionaire. When she gets there, though, things begin to unravel as a guest turns up dead. Barton’s character must then get to the bottom of the gathering, and find a way to save her life and the life of everyone else.
Principal photography is set to begin on the film in November, with ACE Entertainment’s Sebastian Semon and Jerome Reynder-Kalfon set to executive produce the feature. Zeus Samani and Brian Vilim will be attached as producers as well.

“Invitation to a Murder is a suspenseful mystery with twists and turns in the spirit of Agatha Christie’s novels that will keep viewers captivated and guessing,” said ACE’s Sebastian Semon in a statement to Deadline. “It is the first project of its kind for ACE Entertainment Films, and we are very proud to be working with Grindstone, who will distribute domestically, and France Television, who will distribute in France.”
