Monday: IFC acquires rights to Sebastian Stan-led romance drama
According to Deadline, IFC Films has officially acquired the North American theatrical distribution rights to director Argyris Papadimitropoulos’ long-delayed romantic drama Monday which is being led by MCU star Sebastian Stan and Denise Gough. Originally scheduled to debut at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and Toronto International Film Festival, the film will now arrive in theaters and on VOD on April 16, 2021.

“In many ways, the film has become even more relevant in this current environment, as all relationships got challenged during the lock down and Chloe’s and Mickey’s story is a very realistic take on relationships,” Papadimitropoulos said. “At a time when things have started getting more optimistic in the world and a summer trip to Greece, crowded parties, people kissing and having fun is something we are all longing for – I believe the timing is perfect to release the film and the fact that it found a home at IFC Films, makes my smile a little bigger.”
Monday is described as a classy-looking film that will focus on Chloe and Mickey, two self-destructive Americans, living across Athens and the Greek islands who will be involved in an intense romance. When Chloe’s time in Greece is drawing to a close, she decides to give up her high-flying job back home and explore whether one weekend’s passion can stand the reality of the inevitable Monday.
The film will be directed by Greek director Argyris Papadimitropoulos (Suntan). The script is co-written by screenwriter-playwright Rob Hayes (This Will End Badly) and Papadimitropoulos.

Protagonist Pictures will handle the film’s international sales while Faliro House and its partners will be the ones financing the feature.
