Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan film series. The actor did complete justice to his role and won the hearts of the audience. He is all set to take up another role in the upcoming period drama Thangalaan. However, fans will have to wait for a bit longer to catch the movie in the theaters as the film has been reportedly delayed.
Thangalaan is Chiyaan Vikram’s much-anticipated film as the actor will be seen in a totally different light. The film is set against the backdrop of British-led India. Vikram has taken the role of a tribal leader, Thangalaan, who fights against the British as they try to seize their land for gold mining. Pa Ranjit has directed the movie which was set to hit the theatres on January 26, 2024, in multiple languages.
As per 123telugu.com, several reports have claimed that the upcoming movie’s release date has been delayed. The publication also mentioned that there is a specific reason behind the makers delaying the movie.

Several reports claim that the filmmakers are aiming to submit Thangalaan to various film festivals. This will work as an extensive preview for the movie as well as a promotional activity. The film’s teaser was released last month that gave a glimpse of the high-octane action and drama. This is not Vikram’s first film to be postponed indefinitely. Recently, his upcoming movie Dhruva Natchathiram was also delayed. The movie’s initial release date was November 24, 2023, but, the makers delayed the film due to financial issues. Director Gautham Menon also apologized to fans for postponing the film’s release.
