49ers officially sign former Eagles first-round offensive lineman bust

By | October 28, 2025

The San Francisco 49ers are one of the more banged-up teams in the NFL. Fred Warner and Nick Bosa are done for the year, and Brock Purdy and Ricky Pearsall have both missed significant time this season.

But while the 49ers aren’t fully healthy, their offensive line has been relatively intact. That doesn’t mean that the 49ers shouldn’t look to add depth to that room.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the 49ers are adding a veteran offensive lineman after their Week 8 loss to the Houston Texans. The former Philadelphia Eagles first-round bust is joining the 49ers’ offensive line room.

49ers sign former Eagles offensive tackle bust

“49ers signed former Eagles’ first-round pick, OL Andre Dillard, to their practice squad and released OL Brandon Parker from their practice squad,” Schefter reports.

Dillard didn’t find success with the Eagles, losing his starting job to Jordan Mailata early in his career and never being able to get it back. He started only nine games in three years with the Eagles, missing the entire 2020 season as well.

Drafted 22nd overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, Dillard was a major disappointment for the Eagles, and they eventually let him walk and hit free agency after the 2022 season.

He signed with the Tennessee Titans, starting 10 games, but struggled all year. He landed with the Green Bay Packers as a depth offensive lineman in 2024, but he didn’t log a single start, and only played in ten games for Green Bay.

Dillard did join the 49ers previously, signing with San Francisco this past offseason before landing on the PUP list over the summer, before landing on injured reserve in mid-August and eventually being released near the end of the month as the 49ers cut down their roster.

The 30-year-old offensive tackle isn’t the worst depth offensive lineman to have, and while the 49ers have avoided injuries to their offensive line, it never hurts to have extra options in case of the worst.

Dillard joins the 49ers once again, this time as a practice squad player and as extra depth behind a strong offensive line. He could be elevated for game day, but for now, he’ll stay on the practice squad as extra depth for Kyle Shanahan’s offensive line.
