The ACC is set to become the first major conference to begin its postseason tournament, setting in motion what could be one of the most compelling storylines ahead of the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
While teams such as Florida State, Virginia and Virginia Tech have already secured their bids to make March Madness, traditional blue bloods such as Syracuse, North Carolina and Duke need strong tournament runs to secure their bid to the NCAA Tournament. In the case of the Blue Devils, it’s possible nothing short of a tournament championship will secure them their bid.
Welcome to life amid the COVID-19 pandemic, where college basketball’s bluest of blue bloods are at risk of not even making the tournament.

Odds to win ACC Tournament
Florida State enters with the best odds to win the 2021 ACC Tournament at +250. Virginia is a close second at +350 odds, followed by Louisville, North Carolina and Virginia Tech, all at +500 odds.
Despite their subpar seasons, traditional blue bloods North Carolina (+500) and Duke (+1400) have the third- and sixth-best odds to win the 2021 ACC Tournament — a nod to the talent present on both teams. Still, it’s likely both teams need deep runs — In the Blue Devils’ case, maybe even tournament title — to secure an NCAA Tournament bid. If they can’t secure invites, it would be the first time since 1974 that neither team was a tournament team. So, no pressure.
