SECOND HALF:

9:20 p.m.: BYU is probably out of time, but it keeps hanging around. The deficit is down to 100-83 after a dunk with 3:42 left.

9:15 p.m.: 10 threes for Mark Sears, 100 points for Alabama. They lead by 23 with 6:29 to play.

9:09 p.m.: Alabama has tied the record with 21 made threes on a Youngblood three. A play later, it hits the record-breaker – Sears of course, with his ninth – and leads 97-76 with 7:34 to play.

9:06 p.m.: It’s 86-68 with 9:28 left after Alabama’s 19th three-pointer.

9:01 p.m.: Alabama has its largest lead of the game at 80-63 after a long Aden Holloway three. 11 minutes to play. With 18 made threes and more than 10 minutes left, Alabama is on pace to break the March Madness single-game record (21 threes).

8:53 p.m.: BYU cut it to 68-61 with a three, and Alabama answered with a three of its own.

8:50 p.m.: It’s another and-one for Demin, and BYU’s deficit is down to 66-58 with 13:56.

8:43 p.m.: BYU cuts it to 63-52 after a three-point play by Egor Demin.

8:37 p.m.: Make it seven threes for Sears. Alabama leads 63-47 with 16:48 to play.

8:36 p.m.: Mark Sears hits his sixth three to put Bama up 58-47. Alabama takes a game-high 13 point lead a play later on a tic-tac-toe alley-oop from Sears to Nelson to Clifford Omoruyi.

8:33 p.m.: Knell, who returned from the bloody nose, opens the second half with a three. It’s 51-43 Crimson Tide one minute into the second half. He was then called for a controversial technical for taunting. On the next play, he was called for a controversial blocking foul for his third personal foul.

FIRST HALF:

Alabama leads 51-40 at halftime.

Mark Sears has been incendiary with 17 points, five assists, and three steals for the Crimson Tide.

Richie Saunders leads BYU with 12 points, four rebounds, and three steals on 5-7 shooting. Keba Keita has eight points on 4-4 FG. Fousseyni Traore and Trevin knell have seven points each.

8:09 p.m.: Grant Nelson blocks a three right before the buzzer to preserve Alabama’s 11-point lead going into halftime.

8:01 p.m.: Bama has its biggest lead of the game at 50-38.

7:50 p.m.: Alabama leads 44-36 with 3:40 left in the half. It’s still a battle of Alabama draining 25-footers and BYU making tough shots inside.

7:47 p.m.: Alabama has its biggest lead at 41-32 with 5:16 left after Sears hits his fifth three and sixth jumper for 17 points.

7:45 p.m.: Trevin Knell, who has seven points, is down and bleeding from the face after an inadvertent collision with Youngblood.

7:44 p.m.: Alabama now leads 38-30 after a particularly deep spot-up three from Chris Youngblood.

7:40 p.m.: The outstanding offense, moving fast both in transition and half court/early offense settings, continues. Mark Sears has hit four threes already for Alabama, whereas BYU leads 22-6 in points in the paint. Bama leads 35-30 with 7:31 to play.

7:30: Going into another timeout with about 11 minutes left after two tough finishes inside from Fousseyni Traore. BYU trails 27-25 with a Traore free throw coming.

7:24 p.m.: Alabama leads 21-17 after a three from Mark Sears. Two minutes later, he puts the Tide up 24-19 with another deep ball.

7:22 p.m.: The incredibly torrid offensive start continues. Neither team can miss and the tempo is fast. BYU leads 17-15 with 14:23 to play.

7:19: p.m.: Nothing but brilliant offense by both teams starting off. With 15:32 left, BYU leads 13-12 heading into the first time out.

7:16 p.m.: After Alabama opened 4-0, BYU went on a 9-0 run to lead 9-4 before ending its run via goaltending with 17:06 left.
