Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest prediction, odds, betting tips and best bets for 2023/24 Premier League opener

By | August 12, 2023

Arsenal got their season off to a flying start last weekend as they defeated Manchester City via a very late equaliser and subsequent penalty shootout in the Community Shield at Wembley.

That will have raised the confidence levels even further within Mikel Arteta’s squad, after they came close to a first Premier League title last campaign for the first time since 2003/04.

Since then the Gunners have added a number of quality additions over the summer including West Ham captain Declan Rice and Chelsea’s Kai Havertz.

Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, have been surprisingly quiet this summer compared to on their return to the top-flight a year ago. Anthony Elanga has joined from Manchester United for a sizeable fee but manager Steve Cooper will likely be looking for results elsewhere rather than in this opening fixture at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest best bet

  • Pick: Arsenal to keep a clean sheet
  • Odds: -115 (BetMGM)

Keeping 14 clean sheets from 38 Premier League matches last season, only Manchester City managed to keep their opponents off the scoresheet more times than Arsenal in 2022/23.

Granted, only four of the Gunners’ clean sheets came on home soil but with the return of William Saliba from injury, their chances of keeping one in this fixture are high.

They beat Forest 5-0 at the Emirates Stadium near the start of last season plus no side failed to score away from home on more occasions last season than Cooper’s side. They drew a blank in 10 of their 19 away leagues outings in 2022/23, which points towards another nil in this season opener.

Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest prop bet

  • Pick: Bukayo Saka to score anytime
  • Odds: 2.65 (Unibet)

Last season for the Gunners, star winger Bukayo Saka was arguably the pick of the bunch.

The English international managed to net 14 goals throughout the league season – the tenth most of any player in the competition – from an xG of 11.32 which highlights his growing killer edge in front of goal.

His 70% big chance conversion was also the highest of any player with over ten Premier League goals last campaign, while 10 of his 14 goals came on home soil – which makes him a good bet to strike again in this game for Arsenal.
