Aston Villa have opened talks with Morgan Rogers over a bumper new contract according to Football Insider, who revealed the Midlands club are eager to reward the 23-year-old midfielder despite his poor start to the current season.
Rogers is valued at around £80m [$107m] by Villa and his importance is reflected in their refusal to sell him during the summer when Chelsea and Tottenham were heavily linked with offers that tested the club’s resolve.
The England youth international joined Villa from Middlesbrough in January 2024 and quickly became a central figure in Unai Emery’s squad.
His breakout 2024-25 campaign delivered 14 goals and 16 assists across all competitions earning him both Villa’s Young Player of the Season award and the PFA Young Player of the Year honor in 2025.
His rise made him one of the most sought after attacking midfielders in England yet Villa showed faith by securing him to a deal until 2030 only last November.
Despite Villa’s difficult start this season and criticism directed at Rogers for his drop in form the club is determined to back him and contract discussions are designed not only to reflect his progress but also to ward off renewed interest from elite sides.
Since his debut for Aston Villa, Rogers has recorded 77 appearances with 17 goals, 17 assists which underlines his value to Villa’s long term project.
