Astros’ infielder Isaac Paredes leaves Thursday’s win with leg injury

The Houston Astros suffered a major loss on a night they notched a series win over the Chicago White Sox. Despite winning the game 4-3, third baseman Isaac Paredes was forced to leave early due to an apparent leg injury.

Paredes suffered the injury in the bottom of the 7th inning when he came up hobbling after trying to beat out a double play. He was then removed from the game and replaced by Mauricio Dubón.

Per The Athletic’s Chandler Rome, Astros manager Joe Espada said that Paredes suffered a hamstring injury, no further details were revealed.

Just two innings prior to his injury, Paredes blasted his team-high 15th home run of the season to put the Astros ahead 4-2. Paredes has been one of the team’s most consistent bats this season, hitting to a .255 batting average with 42 RBI’s and a .831 OPS to go along with his 15 home runs as he continues to make his case to reach his second All-Star game. In his last seven games, Paredes is managing a 1.198 OPS and has clubbed 3 home runs.

The Astros currently sit in first place in the NL West at 38-30, 4.5 games ahead of the second-place Los Angeles Angels. The hope for Houston is that Paredes avoided a major injury, as an IL stint will leave them without one of their most productive players when they face off against a pair of NL West foes in the Athletics and the Angels next week.
