Attorney Tony Buzbee takes veiled shot at Texans’ Deshaun Watson

By | July 19, 2021

Attorney Tony Buzbee took a veiled shot at Deshaun Watson on Monday, referring to the Texans quarterback in an Instagram post while he and his wife honeymooned in Greece.

Buzbee represents 22 women who have filed civil suits against Watson, alleging he sexually assaulted or harassed them during massage sessions in 2020 and 2021. The Houston-based attorney detailed his own 90-minute massage, in which the woman “didn’t feel threatened, degraded, or uncomfortable in any way.”

“It was actually nice and relaxing — I fell asleep,” Buzbee said. “But note, it was professional; I made no weird demands, I didn’t grind around on the table, I never fully disrobed, and I never acted like an entitled, horny, teenage boy. I’m also quite sure Tina, the massage professional, didn’t feel threatened, degraded, or uncomfortable in any way.

“Massage therapy is a legit profession made up of trained professionals trying to earn an honest living. That’s how it should be.”

Among the allegations against Watson are claims that he insisted on being either fully nude or covered with just a small towel over his genitals during sessions. The suits also claim he positioned or moved himself so his genitals would touch the women massaging him.

Watson initially denied the allegations against him. Watson’s attorney, Rusty Hardin, also released a joint statement of 18 women who massaged Watson, claiming the accusations against him were inconsistent with their experiences. Hardin later claimed his client’s sexual encounters with the women who massaged him were consensual.

The Texans open training camp on July 28, but it is unclear whether Watson will report for camp.
