Auburn entered the NCAA tournament as one of the one seeds and a favorite among many to cut down the nets in San Antonio. The Tigers captured the SEC regular season title in a loaded conference and have used strong second halves to make the second week of the tournament. Auburn beat Alabama State 83-63 in the opening round and erased a halftime deficit to beat Creighton 82-70 on Saturday. The Tigers made the Final Four in 2019 but have yet to win a National Championship.

Michigan is into their sixth Sweet Sixteen in the last decade. Under first year head coach Dusty May, who led Florida Atlantic to the Final Four two seasons ago, the Wolverines captured the Big 10 Conference tournament. Michigan survived an opening round test against UC San Diego and proceeded to take down Texas A&M in the following round. The Wolverines last reached the Elite 8 in 2021 and were National Champions in 1989.
