Barcelona are still making desperate attempts to ease their financial difficulties before the end of the transfer window, and they could look to cash in on another defender as part of those plans.
The Catalans confirmed the sale of Mikayil Faye to Rennes on August 25 in a transfer that will earn them €10.3 million ($11.5 million). They also have a buyback option and a 30 percent sell-on clause included in the deal.
Clement Lenglet is also expected to depart in the coming days, with the centre-back expected to sign a new contract — thereby allowing Barca to defer the cost of paying his wages — before signing for Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan.
However, there is one more defender who could be moved on as the club looks to ease their salary burden sufficiently so they can register new signing Dani Olmo to play in La Liga.

According to Football Espana, Barca are considering selling Eric Garcia in the coming days, even though the 23-year-old featured in both of their league matches of 2024/25 so far.
The defender enjoyed a positive season on loan with Girona last season before winning Olympic gold with Spain at the 2024 Paris Games, and Barca’s Catalan neighbours are reportedly interested in a permanent deal. The competition for places at the heart of Hansi Flick’s defence means Garcia could be tempted to seek a transfer that will give him a better chance of regular first-team football.
However, with just five days left of the window, it’s unclear whether Garcia will be moved on or if Barca will attempt to raise funds through other means.
