Barcelona endured a frustrating night at Camp Nou as Turkish giants Galatasaray scrapped out a 0-0 draw in their Europa League last 16 first leg.
Xavi’s side carried a limited threat in the first half with Memphis Depay twice testing on loan La Blaugrana keeper Inaki Pena.
However, the former Spanish international did look to up the tempo with a string of changes in the second period, with substitute Sergio Busquets heading just over and Frenkie De Jong cracking an effort against the post.
But, despite ending the game with Ousmane Dembele, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Luuk De Jong on the pitch, the hosts could not force a breakthrough and they now face a huge test in the away leg in Turkey next week.
Barça should have won this, now face a tough trip to Turkey and there are no away goals. Big test. #BarçaGalatasaray #UEL https://t.co/bSGZB4GQLI

De Jong thought he had broke the deadlock as his drive clattered back off the post before Galatasaray storm up the other end with Gomis’ finished ruled out for offside by VAR.
Slight delay in linesman raising his flag there as they had to wait for him to stand up again having fallen over 😂

INTO THE FINAL TEN MINUTES AT THE CAMP NOU!!!
69th Min: Galatasaray boss Domenec Torrent looks to change his charges up for the final minutes with a double change as Bafetimbi Gomis and Emre Kilinc come on and Ryan Babel and Mostafa Mohamed go off.

61st Min: As a frustrated Memphis lashes one over the top Xavi calls the Dutchman to come off as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replaces him.
Can the former Arsenal man unlock the Galatasaray defence?
60th Min: Xavi’s changes have immediately improved things for the home side. Dembele’s blocked shot falls for Traore but his shot is deflected over for a corner.
Xavi’s subs are on point, understood quickly that velocity/acceleration was required following the first half and consequently fielded Dembélé + Auba on.
The front three allows a lot of variety, Dembélé as the creative force & Auba pinning w/ unpredictability from Adama.— JP (@jdeposicion) March 10, 2022
Busquets nods Memphis’ resulting corner just over the top as the pressure builds for Barca!!
50th Min: First chance of the second period for Barcelona but Memphis’ free kick just evades Pique and Galatasaray clear their lines.
46th Min: Xavi rings the changes at half time
Xavi was clearly unimpressed by his side in the first 45 minutes as he makes a triple substitution for the second period.
Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Ousmane Dembele all come on as Ferran Torres, Ronald Araujo and Nico Gonzalez head off.
Can that turn the tide for Xavi…..as the second half gets underway?
45th Min+2.: HALF TIME – Barcelona 0 Galatasaray 0
No goals in the first 45 minutes at the Camp Nou with Memphis’ two chances posing the biggest threat for the hosts with Galatasaray threatening on the counter attack.
