The Cincinnati Bengals’ offensive line could field a couple of new starters in 2025. The team moved on from guard Alex Cappa this offseason and added a few new pieces to the unit in the draft, selecting guard Dylan Fairchild in Round 3 and offensive tackle Jalen Rivers in Round 5.
Though left tackle Orlando Brown Jr., center Ted Karras, and right tackle Amarius Mims are slated to return as starters, the guard positions are up for discussion. With Cappa out of the picture, Cincinnati is guaranteed to have at least one new starter on the interior, but Cordell Volson’s job also isn’t safe.
Volson started 15 games last year and has been pretty durable over the last few years, but he consistently struggles in pass protection, and the Bengals should be looking to replace him. Though it is still incredibly early, it looks like Cincinnati could be ready to move on from Volson based on their starting group during OTAs.
The Bengals opened OTAs on Tuesday and debuted an offensive line that has Fairchild at left guard and Lucas Patrick at right guard.
LG Dylan Fairchild and RG Lucas Patrick were the first two guards up in the first 11 on air session.
It’s the offseason and a lot can happen from here but noteworthy.
O-line looked like this: RT Amarius Mims, RG Lucas Patrick, C Ted Karras, LG Dylan Fairchild and LT Orlando…

Fairchild receiving the opportunity to start right away in OTAs isn’t surprising, as the Bengals did use a third-round pick on him. Patrick getting the nod at right guard to start the offseason is also not very shocking. The 31-year-old has a ton of starting experience and is an experienced veteran who signed a one-year deal with Cincinnati in March.
Obviously, there is still a lot of time left for the Bengals to decide who will be their starters on the offensive line in 2025. However, the group that was out there during OTAs on Tuesday seems like a starting combination we could see in Week 1.
