The Giants’ season has gone off the rails in the first five weeks. Do they have one major upset in them to right to ship? 

It’s going to be a monumental challenge for a struggling Giants team to win in front of a raucous Buffalo crowd, particularly if their offensive line continues to struggle as much as it has.

New York has allowed 30 sacks through five games, surrendering so much pressure that it’s tough to tell how much of the offense’s failures are the fault of QB Daniel Jones. To that point, former Bills QB Tyrod Taylor is expected to get the start for New York in this one after Jones suffered a neck injury in the Week 5 loss to the Dolphins.

The Giants might have both LT Andrew Thomas and RB Saquon Barkley back in the fold in Buffalo, though, so their offense could receive a real boost as they try to salvage their season.

The Bills’ offense is looking to find some consistency after coming back to Earth in London against the Jaguars last weekend. By the time Buffalo started putting points on the board, it was too late to keep up with Jacksonville.

Leading into that matchup, however, the results were excellent. The Bills averaged 41 points per game between Weeks 2 and 4, and Sunday night will be an opportunity to regain some of that momentum.

11:07 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — Allen hits Quintin Morris for the go-ahead touchdown! That’s Morris’ first catch of the year, and it couldn’t come at a better time for the Bills. 14-9, Buffalo, with 3:48 remaining.

11:05 p.m. — The Bills have inched their way into the red zone after a handful of small gains. They’re taking what the Giants give them.

11:02 p.m. — Allen evades pressure and finds an open Diggs to take the Bills into Giants territory.

Giants 9, Bills 7

10:57 p.m. FIELD GOAL — Gano connects from short-range, and the Giants take the lead right back. Let’s see if the Bills make Daboll pay for not playing for the touchdown there.

10:56 p.m. — 3rd & Inches turns into 4th & Inches for the Giants after pressure from Greg Rousseau, and Daboll will settle for the go-ahead field goal try.

10:54 p.m. — Defensive holding gives the Giants another first down.

10:52 p.m. — And another one. 33 more yards for Barkley, who suddenly is up to 85 yards on 20 carries. The Giants are rolling right along and on the edge of field goal range in this one-point game.

10:51 p.m. — Big-time run by Saquon Barkley! He goes 19 yards and is starting to look much more comfortable after a really slow start.

Bills 7, Giants 6

10:44 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — Dorsey dials up a really nice play to get the ball to a wide-open Deonte Harty on 3rd & Goal. The Bills have the lead for the first time tonight.

End of third quarter: Giants 6, Bills 0

10:40 p.m. — The Bills were less than a yard away from the end zone, but Bobby Okereke — who is having himself a night — stuffs Latavius Murray for a two-yard loss. A huge third down coming here for Buffalo.

10:37 p.m. — Four penalties all offset, after it took officials a few minutes to sort that all out. 1st & goal for the Bills.

10:33 p.m. — The Bills put themselves in position for 1st & Goal, but there were a handful of fights after the play… Flags litter the field. 

10:32 p.m. — Buffalo is into the red zone after a big run by Latavius Murray. The Bills’ offense looks much more comfortable in this half. Can they finish the drive?

10:30 p.m. — Allen somehow finds Diggs in a sea of defenders for a first down that takes the Bills to the Giants’ 25.

10:27 p.m. — Allen avoids what would’ve been a bad sack and completes to Knox for a first down. That’s the kind of play fans expect from Allen. 

10:26 p.m. — Running the ball seems to be the Bills’ most efficient form of offense tonight. James Cook picks up a first down for Buffalo.

10:22 p.m. — A sack sets the Giants back, and they’re forced to punt to bring a promising drive to an abrupt end. If there was ever a time for the Bills’ offense to come alive…

10:20 p.m. — Taylor clearly trusts Robinson, who goes for another first down and has the Giants into Bills territory. New York can quickly erase memories of that horrible ending to the first half if this drive ends in a touchdown.

10:17 p.m. — The Giants quickly gain some yardage to start the half, with Taylor finding Wan’Dale Robinson for 13 yards.

End of first half: Giants 6, Bills 0

10:02 p.m. — What a mess. Barkley gets the carry, gets stuffed, and the Giants waste all 14 seconds on that one play. Instead of a 13-0 or 9-0 lead, it will stay 6-0 Giants entering the half.

10:01 p.m. — A pass interference call against Kaiir Elam sets up the Giants at the one-yard line with 14 seconds left.

10:00 p.m. — The challenge here for the Giants is that they essentially have to pass the ball to avoid bleeding the clock, instead of running it up the gut for three plays.

9:59 p.m. — The Bills say Harris has a neck injury but has movement in his arms and legs. 

9:58 p.m. — The Giants have 1st & Goal with 24 seconds remaining in the half.

9:55 p.m. — The Taylor-to-Slayton connection might be the only redeeming part of the Giants’ offense tonight. Taylor hits Slayton for 30 yards and gives New York a chance at points before halftime.

9:52 p.m. INTERCEPTION — After Allen completes to Diggs for 19 yards, he’s intercepted by Micah McFadden. It’s been one step forward, two steps back for the Bills’ offense all night.

9:50 p.m. — Harris was able to give his teammates a thumbs up as he was wheeled into the ambulance, which is an excellent sign. Play has resumed.

9:48 p.m. — Obviously, this scenario is all too familiar for the Bills. Not only did Damar Hamlin require an ambulance last season in Cincinnati, but Micah Hyde was taken off the field in an ambulance after an early-season neck injury. Hyde was able to make a full recovery, and the hope is that this is just precautionary for Harris. 

9:47 p.m. — An ambulance is on the field for Harris. This seems to be a head-and-neck type of injury, based on the replay. 

9:44 p.m. — Damien Harris is down after getting hit by Okereke, and he doesn’t appear to be moving. A long first half will have another pause as the former Patriot gets checked out. 

9:43 p.m. — After all of that, the Bills pick up a first down thanks largely to the penalty yardage, and Josh Allen returns.

9:40 p.m. — This is a flag-fest. The drive has four penalties and just one snap. This time, the Giants commit two penalties, and now Josh Allen is coming out of the game for an apparent concussion test… Kyle Allen is in. 

9:39 p.m. — The Bills are going to want to forget about this half of football. A holding penalty sets them back to 1st & 20, and now a false start backs them up another five yards.

Giants 6, Bills 0

9:34 p.m. FIELD GOAL — The Giants go nowhere on 3rd & Long, but they stay in field goal range and Gano connects from 43 yards out. The Giants lead 6-0.

9:31 p.m. — Saquon Barkley has been limited to just 12 yards on 12 carries. He’s still trying to find his footing after missing three games with an ankle injury.

9:27 p.m. — Taylor finds a little momentum with back-to-back completions, including a 20-yard pass to Darren Waller that takes the Giants into field goal range.

9:24 p.m. — That fizzled out quickly. Allen badly overthrows Diggs as this Buffalo passing game continues to struggle, and Tyler Bass misses from 52 yards out. Bills OC Ken Dorsey, Daboll’s replacement, might have to dig deep to find a solution.

9:21 p.m. — The Bills ride James Cook to start this drive, and it works. The second-year RB rattles off back-to-back 14-yard runs. 

9:18 p.m. — Taylor throws low on 3rd & 11 and sets up another Giants punt. The Bills will come out of this with solid field position, and it feels like now is the time for the offense to strike. 

9:16 p.m. — Penalties continue to hurt both teams. This time, a false start backs the Giants up from 3rd & 6 to 3rd & 11. 

9:11 p.m. — Neither team can sustain a drive. The Giants quickly get the Bills off the field after Deonte Banks does a nice job defending Diggs. 

End of first quarter: Giants 3, Bills 0

9:06 p.m. — Pugh is not holding up so well at left tackle. A.J. Epenesa beats him and registers a sack of Taylor, bringing the Giants’ latest drive to a quick end. The Bills will get the the ball back still searching for their first point.

9:02 p.m. — The Bills’ drive fizzles out quickly after the big gain by Diggs plus a nice run by Latavius Murray. Facing a potential 56-yard field goal, Buffalo opts to punt. 

8:58 p.m. — Now Adoree’ Jackson is down and appears to be in considerable pain.

8:57 p.m. — Josh Allen hits Stefon Diggs in stride for a big 29-yard gain. That’s what the Bills have been missing early in this game. 

Giants 3, Bills 0

8:53 p.m. FIELD GOAL — Gano connects from short-range to give the Giants an early 3-0 lead.

8:52 p.m. — The Giants will try a field goal after coming up short of a first down. 

8:50 p.m. — Leonard Floyd beats Pugh and sacks Taylor to set the Giants back. It’ll be interesting to see how aggressive Brian Daboll is here in the red zone knowing the uphill battle his team faces in this game. 

8:49 p.m. — Ezeudu is being carted to the locker room, with Justin Pugh moving to left tackle. Meanwhile, the Bills are hit with an unnecessary roughness penalty after some more bad blood. 

8:43 p.m. — Joshua Ezeudu is down in pain, which is a huge concern for a Giants team that is already dangerously thin at offensive tackle. Andrew Thomas wasn’t able to play tonight. 

8:42 p.m. — Now Taylor makes a big play, hitting Darius Slayton downfield on third down. That pass was placed right where it needed to be. 

8:41 p.m. — The Bills’ defense is missing some big pieces, but Tyrod Taylor hasn’t been able to take advantage. It’s quickly 3rd & 7.

8:38 p.m. FUMBLE — Gabe Davis loses the football trying to get extra yards! Bobby Okereke knocks it out, Micah McFadden recovers, and the Giants’ defense has an early turnover.

8:34 p.m. — Alright, this is great. 

8:30 p.m. — And Barkley gets stuffed on third down… The Giants will punt after a quick drive.

8:29 p.m. — Barkley gets an early carry and sets up 3rd & 1 for the Giants.

8:27 p.m. — Josh Allen throws downfield on 3rd & 7 but finds no one as Gabe Davis gets tripped up. Davis wants a flag but doesn’t get one. The Giants’ defense does its job on the opening drive. 

8:25 p.m. — There is already some bad blood between these teams, as a post-kickoff fight draws offsetting penalties. Spencer Brown was in there taking on several Giants. 

8:22 p.m. — The Bills, donning all-red uniforms, will start with the ball. 

8:19 p.m. — The NFL is currently honoring victims of the terror attacks in Israel before kickoff.

8:10 p.m. — The Giants’ brain trust originated in Buffalo, where Brian Daboll was the Bills’ offensive coordinator and Joe Schoen was in the team’s front office. Will their insight pay off tonight? 

8:00 p.m. — Josh Allen’s only career meeting with the Giants was a win. He’s heavily favored to win another tonight, but upsets of the Eagles and 49ers today are a reminder that nothing can be taken for granted.

7:30 p.m. — Rare October #FootballWeather? It’s 47 degrees in Buffalo, and while those fans have endured much worse, the early-arriving crowd is dressed for the cold.

6:55 p.m. — Dawson Knox (wrist) will play tonight, but Dalton Kincaid (concussion) won’t be ready to go for the Bills. Buffalo is banged up defensively as well after losing three starters to major injuries in the last two weeks.

6:42 p.m. — Barkley is out on the field warming up as he attempts to return vs. the Bills tonight.

6:38 p.m. — Saquon Barkley has been hopeful he’d be able to play all week, and it looks like that’s what will happen. Barkley is expected to return in Buffalo.

The Bills have won only one of their last four matchups with the Giants, but these two franchises have trended in totally opposite directions over the last few seasons. Josh Allen got the best of the Giants in 2019, and his Bills are favored to earn another win on Sunday.
