The Carabao Cup is quickly approaching the pointy end for its 2022/23 campaign.
The remaining teams competing for the trophy have been cut from 16 to eight as the quarterfinal field is set.
With the 2022 FIFA World Cup now over, the Carabao Cup saw Premier League clubs return to competitive action in the Round of 16 (Fourth Round).
A number of lower-division sides were aiming to continue their good runs in the competition and reach the final eight, but only one succeeded.

The Carabao Cup quarter final draw is taking place on Thursday, December 22 immediately after the final Round of 16 match between Liverpool and Manchester City.
The draw is scheduled to begin at 22:30 (17:30 ET) and it will be live streamed for free by the Carabao Cup’s social media channels and on Sky Sports.

When are Carabao Cup quarter finals?
The Carabao Cup quarter finals are scheduled to take place across Tuesday, January 10 and Thursday, January 12.
This is later than usual due to the 2022 World Cup with the 2021/22 quarter finals played on December 21-22.
Is there extra time, penalties in Carabao Cup quarter finals?
Should a Carabao Cup quarter final end level after 90 minutes in 2023, the game will go directly to a penalty shootout.
Extra time is only used in the competition for the semi finals and final.
The Carabao Cup previously had extra time in every round of the tournament but EFL clubs voted to limit its use in 2018/19.
