Week 2 of the NFL season wraps up on Monday night with a “Monday Night Football” double-header, including a key division matchup in the AFC West between the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders.
Both teams enter the week after huge wins in Week 1, especially the Chargers. To begin the season, Los Angeles beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Brazil to make a statement as they controlled that game from start to finish.
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was one of the best players in the league during Week 1, totaling 318 passing yards and three touchdowns to defeat the Chiefs. Los Angeles leaned on Herbert as a passer throughout the game, a change of pace from last year’s team that relied on its running game.
Herbert spread the ball around in that game as Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston all got involved. Additionally, rookie running back Omarion Hampton had a quality debut with 48 rushing yards, but his involvement in the offense could allow the unit to get even better.

For the Raiders, Las Vegas saw a lot of changes in the offseason as the team hired Pete Carroll as head coach and acquired Geno Smith as quarterback. The new Raiders regime got off to a strong start too, defeating the New England Patriots on the road to begin the year.
The biggest name to watch for the Raiders is rookie running back Ashton Jeanty, who had a modest NFL debut. Jeanty was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 draft as he and Hampton represent the two highest-drafted running backs in the 2025 class.
It may be early, but this game is crucial for playoff purposes, with the winner taking sole control of first place in the AFC West after two weeks.
