By | June 7, 2024

Baseball fans were treated to a thrilling start to the 2024 NCAA Baseball Tournament.

There was a major upset, with fourth-ranked Evansville taking down No. 16 overall seed East Carolina in the Greensville region. Fifth overall seed Arkansas, a team that long held the No. 1 overall seed, fell in its regional to Kansas State, while other regional hosts, No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 11 Oklahoma State, No. 13 Arizona, and No. 14 UC Santa Barbara, all fell in their regionals.

Left competing for the eight spots in Omaha is no shortage of stars. Jac Caglianone and Florida survived despite coming in as the No. 3 seed in Stillwater. Charlie Condon and No. 7 Georgia edged in-state rival Georgia Tech in an extra-inning Game 2 showdown. And thanks in part to a surging Gavin Gallaher, No. 4 North Carolina took down LSU in a contentious Game 3 to advance to the super regionals.

The excitement has only just begun. Teams are now slated for super regionals, where 16 teams will attempt to whittle the field down to eight.
