College football playoff rankings: Who are the top four teams in the second CFP poll of 2023?

By | November 7, 2023

The 2023 season is beginning to come to a close and with that, the College Football Playoff picture is also starting to take a firmer shape.

The first edition of the CFP rankings was released last week. It saw Ohio State, Georgia, Michigan and Florida State take the top four spots. Behind those programs, in the two spots following directly after, were Washington and Oregon.

With one of the rankings already released, things have become a bit more predictable and a lot of questions have been answered. This is, though, an ever-evolving process with some room for changes to occur.

Who are the top four CFP teams in the second poll of 2023?

Ohio State was top dog the last time these rankings were released. And after the Buckeyes defeated Rutgers 35-16 in a mostly unimportant game on Saturday, they held strong at that top spot.

Georgia also added another win, escaping what looked like a scare for just a second against No. 12-ranked Missouri, 30-21. Michigan, which holds the third spot, put together a dominant 41-13 win over Purdue in the same time frame.

At the final spot within the top four, the Seminoles remain undefeated after registering a 24-7 win over Pittsburgh.

Ranking Team Record
1 Ohio State 9-0
2 Georgia 9-0
3 Michigan 9-0
4 Florida State 9-0

Who are the first two teams out of the top four in the second CFP poll of 2023?

The two teams just outside of the top four remained the same as the initial release of the rankings with Washington and Oregon taking those two spots. The Huskies were victorious in one of the most electric matchups of the weekend as they came out on top of a shootout that reached nearly 100 points, 52-42 over USC.

Oregon had a more comfortable time of it with a strong, 63-19 win over Cal in which potential Heisman candidate quarterback Bo Nix recorded a total of six touchdowns.
