Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders’ recent speeding incidents in Ohio have seemingly turned the Cleveland and Denver media against the “Grown QB.”
No longer is Shedeur being touted as a potential Browns starter under center. Instead, Sanders is being treated like he’s one mistake away from being dismissed from his first NFL home.
Cleveland.com’s Terry Pluto claimed that Shedeur’s performance up until now has done little to earn him the starting job.
Some editorializing was added in light of recent events.
Pluto claimed Shedeur was no longer special, which feels like something no other prospect from recent history would have to read about himself.
“For Shedeur Sanders, the reality is he’s no longer special. Not in the eyes of the NFL. Only 7% of starters come from the fifth round. It’s true that Sanders has impressed the Browns with his work ethic and serious approach to learning the offense. He seems to have connected with [Joe] Flacco. He’s also had some good days in front of the media during the Browns’ spring camps. But these are glorified touch football practices. If the real NFL was like this, Flacco would already be enshrined in the Hall of Fame,” Pluto wrote.
There’s losing the plot, then there’s seeing the plot rewritten in real-time.
Sanders quickly lost all support from prominent media figures in Cleveland’s quarterback competition.
All for something he did off the field, which was made to be more of a story than it had to be by certain media outlets.
A mistake many 23-year-olds make has become a scarlet letter for a QB who just saw his reputation hit after the draft for his behavior in meetings with interested teams.
