The Dallas Cowboys missed the playoffs in 2024 and could be looking to make big roster changes to avoid a repeat of their disappointing season. The Cowboys do not have much cap space to work with, making free agency a difficult avenue to add players.
The Cowboys are currently $2.8 million over the salary cap, according to Spotrac. The Cowboys desperately need an elite presence next to CeeDee Lamb to help their offense. While listing “dream” additions to help the Cowboys contend for a championship, FanSided’s Cris Partee urged the team to sign Tee Higgins from the Cincinnati Bengals.
“If there’s one free agent who could inject life into this Cowboys offense, it’s Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tee Higgins,” wrote Partee. “He’s entering his prime and continues to prove why he’s among the NFL’s best wideouts. Known for his ability to dominate in contested catch situations, Higgins would fit seamlessly into the Cowboys’ receiving group.”
Signing Higgins would be a long shot for the Cowboys. They would have to pull off a miracle with the salary cap as Higgins is projected to earn a four-year, $101 million deal. The second part that makes it unlikely is that Higgins is likely going to be franchise tagged. If that is the case, the Cowboys will not only have to pay him but also have to give up assets to acquire him.
Higgins would be a great addition for the Cowboys, but his next team being the Cowboys is highly unlikely.
