Will another star emerge in Los Angeles?
The Dodgers have no shortage of them and continue to be one of MLB’s elite teams. They’ve experienced sustainable success and have a deep bank account. It’s the best of both worlds.
While much of their success can be attributed to the money being spent, it would be unfair to categorize the Dodgers as just a team with a lot of cash. They’ve drafted well and gotten huge returns on some of their investments. For a front office as smart as Los Angeles’, it’s no wonder why the team is in the running to be the last one standing every year.
MLB DRAFT: Top 100 big board | SN’s mock draft
Bobby Miller, the team’s top prospect, has done an admirable job after being thrown into the rotation because of injuries on the big club. Dalton Rushing is another example of the team’s ability to find the gems. He was drafted No. 40 overall in 2022 and is already among baseball’s top prospects.
The Dodgers will drop 10 spots out of the first round thanks to exceeding the competitive balance tax threshold by more than $40 million last season, but that seems to be where they thrive. They also have two compensation picks after the fourth round thanks to the departures of Tyler Anderson and Trea Turner.
Here’s where the Dodgers will select in the 2023 MLB Draft and who LA might take with its early picks.
