The North Carolina Tar Heels fell apart despite having a huge advantage of 20-0 against Duke on September 28. Their first half was outstanding while the second half was…not so much.
As a result, Duke’s social media took their showboating on Twitter and trolled UNC by pretending to send a report on Instagram underneath the “Who is this account pretending to be?”
The Blue Devils’ social media team answered with “a good football team.”
Whether you think this is funny or not is up to you. However, it is bold for a team to pull out a stunt after their first win against a rival since November 10, 2018.
UNC had been on a five-game winning streak since October 26, 2019, and was on the verge of making it six if their performance stayed consistent throughout the entire 60 minutes.
Duke’s social media team may get the final laugh for now but UNC fans can also pull out the all-time record of 65 wins to their 41.
It was the 110th matchup between both schools but North Carolina has control over the head-to-head record; something they can hang over Duke’s head in return.
North Carolina has bigger things to worry about than Duke’s troll
Duke may have trolled UNC but do the Tar Heels care? Probably not.
The state of the program lies on their head coach Mack Brown’s shoulders and the loss to the Blue Devils is not the be-all, end-all. The team will shift their attention to October 5, when they’ll be hosting Pittsburgh.
The last two weeks may have fans on edge and not bought in due to embarrassing results. Brown’s future in Chapel Hill is in question.
For now, Brown is still the head coach and will look to get his team’s first win since Week 3 against NC Central.
