Eagles schedule 2022: Dates & times for all 17 games, strength of schedule, final record prediction

By | May 12, 2022

The 2022 season is set up for the Eagles to fly.

Philadelphia general manager Howie Roseman turned a relatively quiet free agency period into one of the busiest draft nights in the NFL, moving a first-round pick to the Saints for a future pick, trading away a first-round pick on draft night and moving up to take one of the draft’s best defenders in Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis.

But the biggest splash on draft night was made when they acquired Titans wide receiver AJ Brown for the No. 18 pick in the draft, giving him a massive contract extension in the process worth a reported $100 million ($57 million guaranteed).

That should make quarterback Jalen Hurts very happy; The team is doing what it can to support him entering a crucial Year 3 in the NFL. Philadelphia still made some quarterback moves post-draft, adding undrafted free agent Carson Strong to a QB room with intriguing potential.

Potential only matters, though, if they can navigate their schedule accordingly. Here’s how it shakes out:

The Eagles face four playoff teams from 2021, three from the NFC: They face the Titans, Cardinals, Cowboys and Packers come the 2022 season.

As far as divisional opponents go, Philly faces off against the NFC North and the AFC South, as part of the four-year rotational formula the NFL uses.

Eagles strength of schedule

The Eagles have one of the easiest schedules in the NFL this upcoming season. Ranked No. 30 overall, opponents of the Eagles in 2021 combined for a .464 winning percentage.

Philadelphia has no love in the division, though: The Cowboys are coming off a 12-5 season and ran away with the NFC East, while the Commanders are looking for a bounce-back year after a tough 2021 season.

Toughest tests: The Eagles are lucky to face the toughest NFC North opponents at home, with the Vikings and Packers traveling to Lincoln Financial Field this upcoming season. Taking on the Lions and Bears on the road makes those games fairly winnable.

Biggest breaks: The Eagles’ offense, now armed with AJ Brown, has an opportunity to take advantage of some mediocre secondary units come 2022, namely the Steelers, Colts and Commanders.

Bottom line: This feels like a make-or-break year for Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense. GM Howie Roseman didn’t do a whole lot this offseason to shore up the squad, which finished at a surprising 9-8. It feels like Nick Sirianni will guide the team to about the same result this upcoming season, even with a stronger draft class.

Record prediction: 9-8
