Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will go in search of making history at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix as he secured pole position yet again thanks to a dominant showing in qualifying yesterday.
The home favourite rallied after struggling for grip early on during Saturday’s wet to dry session to take top spot by over half a second from Lando Norris as he looks to equal the record for most successive race wins.
That title is currently held by Sebastian Vettel who won nine straight races for the Austrian manufacturer back in 2013 — a record that Verstappen can equal this weekend.
He’ll be chased by Norris who qualified in P2 after another impressive showing, whilst Mercedes’ George Russell starts in P3. Williams’ Alex Albon begins from P4 on the grid in Zandvoort after his best-ever showing in F1 qualification, though it was more disappointment for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc who crashed in Q3 on Saturday and will start from P9 this afternoon as a result.
Liam Lawson will also make his race debut in Formula One as he takes Daniel Ricciardo’s spot at AlphaTauri for the foreseeable future after the veteran Australian broke his wrist in FP2 on Friday.

Lap 17: Sargeant is in the barrier again this weekend as the safety car comes out! What a tough end to the weekend for the American rookie who had performed well overall for Williams in Zandvoort.
Lap 16: Sainz and Gasly are in an almighty tussle for P4 on track as the rain begins to fall again. Piastri is back up to P8 after starting there, falling to near last spot and then fighting back. Russell is in P18 from P3 at the start.
Lap 13: Verstappen pits one lap earlier than Perez and undercuts the Mexican driver to regain the lead of the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix.

Lap 11: The next round of pit stops begins as Piastri takes the fastest lap of the race on soft tyres – he was five seconds faster than Perez on that lap alone!
Lap 10: From an 11 second gap, Verstappen has closed the difference down to leader Perez to just five seconds in about two laps.
The Dutchman is on a mission here!
Lap 8: It’s lap seven of the race and Sargeant has already been lapped despite starting P10 on the grid. Let’s just say that if you stayed out on the dry tyres, it has not worked out well at all!
Lap 6: So as it stands, it’s Perez who leads this race ahead of Zhou, Verstappen, Gasly and Alonso. Norris, Hamilton and Russell are way down the order. There’s still drivers who never pitted who won’t need to come in for an additional stop as the track begins to drive.
Lap 2: It is simply impossible to keep up as Perez leads the Dutch Grand Prix!! He came in first for intermediate tyres and he’s flown through the pack. There’s been about 50 passes son this lap alone. Crazy!
LIGHTS OUT: It’s away we go at Zandvoort and Verstappen keeps his lead. It’s a simply stunning opening lap of action as all the drivers avoid collision as the rain hammers down!! Alonso is up to P2 at Norris and Russell’s expense.
2 minutes to lights out: We’re off for the formation lap ahead of the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix as the rain begins to fall lightly. The atmosphere is phenomenal here in Zandvoort!
15 minutes to lights out: The drivers are now heading to the front of the grid for the Dutch national anthem. We’ve definitely heard that played plenty of times already this season given Verstappen’s lengthy list of wins..
30 minutes to lights out: All the cars have left the pits – except Haas’ Kevin Magnussen who starts from the pitlane – and now sit on the grid as we edge closer to the start of this race.
British pair Lando Norris and George Russell will be absolutely desperate to jump Verstappen off the start line as they begin in P2 and P3 in this race. Alex Albon has also looked very quick for Williams so far this weekend and will be hoping for a clean getaway in P4.

Reports suggest that there’ll be plenty of rain showers knocking about this afternoon which could cause chaos and lead to some difficult decisions being made by the drivers and their teams.
