WEEK 6 FANTASY: Top waiver pickups

Dak Prescott injury update, Week 6 fantasy outlook

Prescott (thumb) hasn’t played since Week 1, but buzz started last week that he could return soon. Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Prescott would need to make “significant strides” in order to play Sunday night in Philadelphia, which certainly throws some cold water on the idea that Prescott will suit up.

Given the steady play of Cooper Rush, the Cowboys likely aren’t in a hurry to get Prescott back. Sunday night’s divisional showdown is a huge matchup, but they don’t want a 75-percent Prescott risking further injury when they have a competent placeholder. Honestly, fantasy owners shouldn’t either given the tough matchup. Let Dak continue to heel and return in a cake matchup against Detroit in Week 7. In the meantime, CeeDee Lamb will continue to be a middling WR2 while Michael Gallup is a boom-or-bust flex.

Tua Tagovailoa injury update, Week 6 fantasy outlook

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that Tagovailoa is “not ready to do football stuff yet,” but he did not rule out the possibility of Tagovailoa returning for Miami’s Week 6 matchup against Minnesota.

At this point, fantasy owners shouldn’t be counting on Tagovailoa, but this is a fluid situation that could change quickly. Backup Teddy Bridgewater is in the concussion protocol, but he’s reportedly not experiencing any symptoms and has a chance to suit up on Sunday if Tagovailoa can’t go. That would be big for Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill (foot), as rookie Skylar Thompson doesn’t offer the same upside as either of Miami’s other two QBs. If either Tagovailoa or Bridgewater starts, they have some low-end QB1 appeal in 12-team leagues in what looks like a weak QB slate.
