WEEK 9 WAIVERS: Top pickups

Jameis Winston injury update

Unfortunately, Winston appears to have suffered a serious left knee injury that could end his season. At the very least, he’ll miss a significant amount of time, and those in two-QB/superflex leagues will need to find a new No. 2.

Tayson Hill figures to be the starter in New Orleans, and since his game is built on rushing, he’ll immediately be in the conversion as a QB1 in fantasy. It’s worth noting he’s been in concussion protocol for the past several weeks, but he is expected to be cleared for Week 9 against Atlanta. We rank him as the QB12 right out of the gate, so he’ll be a top waiver pickup this week.

WEEK 9 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

Sam Darnold injury update

Darnold took brutal hits on two straight plays late against the Falcons, and the latter forced him out of the game and into concussion protocol. We’ve seen Teddy Bridgewater and Daniel Jones suffer concussions and play the next week, but head injuries are tough to predict, so we’ll just have to monitor this moving forward.

WEEK 9 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST | Kicker

In a tough matchup with New England, Darnold would rank as the QB21 if he can go. We know how Darnold has handled elite defenses in the past, and Bill Belichick is the coach that made him “see ghosts.” His newfound rushing upside keeps him from the bottom of the list, though.
