The biggest active rivalry in the WNBA is back for another matchup, as the Fever travel on Saturday to play the Sky in Chicago. However, this edition will be missing some notable juice.
Indiana enters the game battling injuries, with star Caitlin Clark currently recovering from a quad strain. The point guard suffered the injury two weeks ago against the Liberty, and is on the mend but will be reevaluated after the weekend to get a better sense of when she can return.
Besides Clark, Sophie Cunningham has also been dealing with a right ankle injury that caused her to miss each of the last two games, but she is closer to returning. The Fever are 3-4 on the season, as they got their first win without Clark against the Mystics earlier in the week.
In Clark’s absence, Kelsey Mitchell has stepped up by averaging 17.4 points per game this season, which includes 24 points in Indiana’s win over Washington on Tuesday, while Aaliyah Boston is averaging a career-high 15.9 points and 8.0 rebounds in seven games.

As for the Sky, Chicago began the season with a brutal stretch of four-straight losses, but has since beaten the Wings twice to get to 2-4 on the year. While Angel Reese is putting up a double-double of 10.0 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. It’s Ariel Atkins who is leading the scoring for the team at 15.3 points per game.
Last month, these two teams opened the WNBA season against each other, with the Fever dominating the Sky in a 93-58 blowout. However, Indiana was much healthier during that game, and Chicago has since gotten back on track.
This game will also count as part of the WNBA’s Commissioner’s Cup, the WNBA’s in-season tournament taking place throughout the month of July. So far, the Fever are 1-0 in Commissioner’s Cup games, while this will be Chicago’s first of the tournament.
