Floyd Mayweather will compete in another exhibition bout on June 11, this time against someone with MMA and boxing experience. Not only is he stepping into the ring against a battle-tested competitor, but he’s doing so against John Gotti III, the grandson of notorious gangster John Gotti.
The fight is inside the FLA Live Arena in Florida. It is available via the Zeus Network.
Gotti is 5-1 as an MMA fighter and 2-0 as a boxer. His last fight was in January when he beat Alex Citrowske via KO. He has admired Mayweather throughout the Hall of Famer’s career. Looking to forge a legacy outside his family, Gotti is ready to put on a show against one of the best to put on a pair of gloves.
“I’m excited for this opportunity. I’ve been looking out for Floyd practically half my life, for most of my life. And then Floyd is part of the reason why I’m here right now. To be honest, that’s the amount of respect I have for Floyd,” Gotti said via Essentially Sports. “I’m coming out with everything I’ve got. I’m gonna fight as hard as I ever fought my entire life.”
