Gennadiy Golovkin vs. Ryota Murata purse, salaries: How much money will they make for 2022 title fight?

By | April 8, 2022

On April 9 inside Saitama Super Arena in Japan, a middleweight unification fight between Gennadiy Golovkin and Ryota Murata will take place. “GGG” and Murata will be defending and fighting for the WBA, IBF, and IBO middleweight titles. This highly anticipated title fight was originally supposed to take place back in December but was postponed due to COVID-related travel restrictions in Japan.

It’s been a long time since Golovkin stepped into the ring as he last fought in December 2020, successfully defending the IBO and IBF middleweight titles against Kamil Szeremeta. Now 40, Golovkin is potentially looking ahead to a trilogy fight with Canelo Alvarez should he get past Murata.

In 2017, “GGG” fought Alvarez to a split decision draw. In a rematch in 2018, he lost via majority decision. Since then, Golovkin is 3-0.

Murata, a 2012 Olympic gold medalist, made his pro debut in 2013. Primarily fighting out of Japan, Murata won the WBA middleweight title in 2017. Like Golovkin, he’s coming off a long hiatus as his last fight was way back in December 2019 when he beat Steven Butler via TKO.

Here’s how much the two fighters are set to earn on Saturday morning.
