For just the second time ever, an NFL game will be played in Germany.

Wrapping up the league’s 2024 five-game international series, the Giants and Panthers’ Week 10 meeting will take place in Munich, Germany, the first time since 2022 that a pair of NFL teams will play in the city. After one matchup in Brazil and three in London, the Munich game will be the NFL’s final international game on the 2024 schedule.

The Giants head into Sunday morning’s matchup in need of a win, as they’re sitting at 2-7 and in the midst of a four-game losing streak. New York has beat only the Browns and Seahawks this season, and with a defense that’s allowing 142.6 rushing yards per game — fifth-worst in NFL entering Week 10 — and an offense that’s struggled to put points on the board — 15.4 points per game, worst in NFL entering Week 10 — the Giants look destined for their second-consecutive losing season.

However, Daniel Jones and company do draw a favorable matchup in the Germany contest. The Panthers, who went just 2-15 last season and are off to a 2-7 start this season, haven’t had many bright spots in 2024. One of those few positives did come last week though, as Carolina took down New Orleans 23-22 in Week 9 behind two touchdowns from running back Chuba Hubbard.

It’s been a season full of quarterback controversy in Carolina. the Panthers began the year with 2023 No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young starting, but as he continued to struggle weekly against NFL defenses, the team gave veteran Andy Dalton a shot at the starting job. However, Dalton led the team to just one win in five starts, and after Dalton was injured in a car crash, Young has once again been leading Carolina’s offense.

With Young set to line up against Jones in Munich, each NFC team will be searching for some momentum with a win. Both the Giants and Panthers’ 2024 seasons have already started slipping away, but a win in Germany could help improve each of their outlooks moving forward.

12:44 p.m. — New York got the ball first in overtime, but they’ve already given it away in a brutal turn of events. Tracy fumbles, and because the Giants didn’t score on their first drive of overtime, the Panthers can win it with just a field goal.

12:39 p.m. — The Giants and Panthers are set to play an extra frame of football in Germany.

Panthers 17, Giants 17

12:35 p.m. FIELD GOAL — After the Giants moved down the field relatively easily, it all came down to a field goal to tie it from Gano. He knocks it through from 42 yards out, and with just five seconds left, this Munich matchup looks destined for overtime.

12:32 p.m. — Jones nearly had a huge 41-yard play to Nabers, but the pass falls incomplete. Instead, the quarterback is taking quick completions to various receivers to push New York down the field and get in field goal range.

12:28 p.m. — At the two-minute warning, the Giants are at their own 34-yard line. They have no timeouts and either need a field goal to tie, or a touchdown to take the lead.

12:25 p.m. — The Giants will get one last chance to score. This time around, Young’s pass on 3rd & 10 falls incomplete, and the Panthers punt with just over two minutes remaining.

12:24 p.m. — Young finds Xavier Legette on 3rd & 8 to keep Carolina’s drive alive and allow its offense to continue running down the clock.

12:19 p.m. — It’s another missed opportunity for the Giants, as they punt the ball away once again. There are under four minutes remaining, and the Panthers will get the ball back still with the lead.

12:16 p.m. —  Carolina goes three-and-out, giving New York another shot at tying the game or taking the lead.

12:13 p.m. — Another critical mistake by the Giants offense. Right after getting a huge break with the turnover, Jones is picked off to give the ball right back to the Panthers.

12:11 p.m. — Now in the red zone after the Panthers’ turnover, New York gets two gains from Johnson and Tracy. A field goal would tie it for the Giants, and a touchdown would give them the lead.

12:09 p.m. — Hubbard, who was having a career performance with 138 rushing yards, fumbles in a big turn of events. The Giants jump on the free football, and Hubbard appeared to be injured for a moment, but walked to the sidelines after.

Panthers 17, Giants 14

12:04 p.m. TOUCHDOWN — After a 13-play, 96-yard drive, Jones runs the ball into the end zone himself for the score. The Giants have life in Munich, still with a chance of coming back for a win.

12:00 p.m. — Nabers is back, and the Giants are inside the Panthers’ five-yard line. New York is threatening to make this a one-score game again.

11:59 a.m. — Nabers is being evaluated for a concussion in the blue medical tent. Meanwhile, the Giants are picking up some more yards on the ground behind Tracy.

11:56 a.m. — Jones is finding some momentum now, first completing a 23-yard pass to Robinson, then hitting Malik Nabers for 19 yards. However, Nabers stays on the field after being tackled and is heading to the sidelines with a potential injury.

11:54 a.m. — On 3rd & 9, Jones finds his rookie tight end, Theo Johnson, to pick up a first down.

End of third quarter: Panthers 17, Giants 7

11:46 a.m. — Each team punts after not finding much offensively, and the Giants will have the ball as the fourth quarter begins.

11:39 a.m. — A strong performance from Hubbard so far today: 19 carries for 138 yards and a touchdown.

11:35 a.m. TOUCHDOWN — Hubbard punches it in from a yard out, extending Carolina’s lead.

11:30 a.m. — Now, it’s Bryce Young breaking free for a strong run, as he picks up 24 yards by scrambling up the middle of the field.

11:27 a.m. — Seeking to match Tracy’s strong day, Hubbard picks up 34 yards by himself over three plays. 

Panthers 10, Giants 7

11:21 a.m. TOUCHDOWN — The Giants are on the board in Germany, and the score comes on a big play from Tracy. The running back breaks free for a 32-yard dash and makes this a one-score matchup once again.

11:16 a.m. — Three consecutive runs from Tracy give New York a first down on its first drive of the third quarter.

11:11 a.m. — The Giants will begin the second half with the ball.

11:00 a.m. — Jones is 6/14 with 54 passing yards, no touchdowns and an interception at the break, while Young has gone 10/16 with 94 passing yards, a touchdown and no interceptions.

Halftime: Panthers 10, Giants 0

10:56 a.m. — Jones takes a knee after the Giants got the ball back briefly, sending this matchup to halftime. It’s just a 10-point lead for the Panthers, but the struggles of New York’s offense are making it seem like a bigger deficit.

10:50 a.m. — It’s been a rough outing for Daniel Jones so far. His pass is tipped into the air and picked off, continuing the strong performance from Carolina’s defense. Just as the Giants were entering the red zone, they turn the ball over.

10:45 a.m. — As the two minute warning hits, the Giants are in Carolina territory still looking to get on the board. Tyrone Tracy Jr. picked up 19 yards on the ground to move the chains, and he’s up to 43 on the day.

10:38 a.m. — Carolina punts with just over five minutes remaining in the first half. 

10:33 a.m. — The offensive woes continue for New York, and it punts once again. On 3rd & 1, the Giants tried a flea flicker, but the entire play got blown up by the Panthers’ defense as Jones went down.

10:25 a.m. — The Panthers punt after going three-and-out. On the punt, there’s offsetting penalties though, as Carolina gets called for unnecessary roughness and New York is flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.

10:22 a.m. — Panthers running back Miles Sanders was carted off the field with an injury, and the team has ruled him doubtful to return with a foot/ankle injury.

10:16 a.m. — New York finally got the ball moving to begin the second frame, but its drive ends with a missed 43-yard field goal from Graham Gano. The Giants remain scoreless. 

10:13 a.m. — A fun moment in Munich: referee Shawn Hochuli announced a penalty in German.

10:07 a.m. FIELD GOAL — Just as the second quarter begins, Eddy Pineiro connects on a 53-yard field goal to make it 10-0 Carolina.

10:04 a.m. — A nice snag by Panthers receiver Jalen Coker, who’s up to three catches for 41 yards so far:

10:01 a.m. — Carolina’s offense continues to move the ball well thanks to Hubbard, who picks up another 15 yards on the ground. Hubbard already has 83 rushing yards on nine carries.

9:55 a.m. — Once again, New York can’t get much going offensively. Jones’ pass to Wan’Dale Robinson on third down is incomplete, and the quarterback has started just 1-for-5 as the Giants punt.

9:48 a.m. TOUCHDOWN — The Panthers get on the board first in Munich, as on 3rd & Goal, Young finds an open Ja’Tavion Sanders in the end zone.

9:47 a.m. — Carolina is driving deep into Giants territory after some big runs by running back Chuba Hubbard.

9:40 a.m. — The Giants’ offense doesn’t find much momentum on its opening drive, and New York will punt.
