Sixteen nations are battling it out for the 2021 Gold Cup, the trophy that crowns the best national team in the region of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF). Mexico is the defending champion and the U.S. men’s national team is expected to challenge El Tri for the title. The two countries have split the last 10 editions of the tournament.
The 2021 competition, which includes special guest team Qatar, started with a group stage. The top two teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage. The single-elimination quarterfinals and semifinals will lead to the championship match in Las Vegas on Sunday, Aug. 1.
Updated group standings, results and match schedules follow below. If teams are even on points during the group stage, the following tiebreakers will be used per tournament regulations:
- Goal difference in all group matches
- Goals scored in all group matches
- Points in matches between the tied teams
- Goal difference in matches between the tied teams
- Goals scored in matches between the tied teams
- Fewest disciplinary points
- Drawing of lots
