With Tottenham slumping to the finish line of the 2022/23 season, the focus is turning to talisman striker Harry Kane and his future with the club.
The 29-year-old is entering the final year of his Spurs contract in 2023/24, which could give the London club real reason to sell if they cannot come to an agreement on a new deal. Spurs would likely wish to cash in on a player who could garner a sizable transfer fee, rather than allow him leave for free the following summer when his contract expires.
Since bursting onto the scene with 21 goals in the 2014/15 season, Kane has put up massive goal totals for both club and country, becoming England all-time leading goal scorer earlier in the 2023 calendar year.
It would be frustrating for Tottenham to wave goodbye to a club legend before the end of his prime years, but with contract negotiations thus far proving fruitless, they may have little choice as Kane could decide to chase silverware elsewhere.

Latest news, reports on Harry Kane transfer
It seems Harry Kane has four viable options for this summer: stay at Tottenham, or move to Manchester United, Bayern Munich, or Real Madrid.
In early April, Laurie Whitwell and Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Athletic reported Man United boss Erik Ten Hag is “sold” on a move for Kane in the summer of 2023. However, according to an April 26 report by Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, United are wary of the “games” Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy likes to deploy, known for dragging on outgoing transfers hoping to pit interested clubs against each other. The same reporter said in May, United are assuming Spurs will not sell Kane.
When Tottenham hosted Manchester United on April 27, away fRamon Alvarez de Mon of Marca reported on May 30 that Ancelotti’s top targets to replace Benzema are Kane and his Spurs teammate Richarlison. While Kane would be the preferred option, the costs involved — a transfer fee of €100 million and a €30m salary for four years — would make it “really tough for Madrid’s current strategy”, Alvarez said.
That has emboldened Bayern Munich’s interest in Kane with The Athletic’s transfer expert David Ornstein revealing the Bundesliga champions have reached out to Spurs with a formal €70m offer, plus add ons, to try and tempt him to Bavaria.

Harry Kane contract extension with Tottenham
Harry Kane signed his last Tottenham contract in June of 2018, penning a new deal that runs through the summer of 2024. Since then, there’s been very little movement on a new deal for the 29-year-old.
While a move away from Tottenham still seems the most likely conclusion to this scenario, it’s also possible that a new contract extension materialises that sees Kane remain at Spurs for the rest of his career, or at least the rest of his prime.
Back in January, Ornstein of The Athletic reported that Kane was open to signing a new contract at Tottenham, going so far as to say that his “wish would be to win trophies at Tottenham”.
Yet the same report conceded that there have not been any “serious discussions” in either direction. The very next day, Kane said he was “sure there will be conversations over the coming months” regarding a new contract, but there has been very little noise in that regard since.
If Kane is to stay, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and club hierarchy will need to convince the player that there is a realistic chance to win silverware at the club. If that possibility seems unlikely to Kane, he could be instead convinced to seek a move elsewhere to have a better chance at winning titles before the window of his prime closes.
Outside of individual awards — he won three Premier League Golden Boot awards and a FIFA World Cup Golden Boot in 2018 — Kane has never won a team title despite making the Champions League final (2019) and two Carabao Cup finals (2015, 2021).
