How much is the Lombardi Trophy worth?
Football’s championship trophy isn’t actually worth as much as you may think.
While it costs $50,000 to make, the physical trophy itself is estimated to be valued at around $10,000.
Football players, coaches and fans likely value the item more than others. I mean, can you really put a price on winning a Super Bowl?
Who makes the Lombardi Trophy?
The Lombardi Trophy is made by Tiffany & Co., a luxury jewelry company based in New York City. They have created the trophy every year since the Super Bowl began.
The company’s vice president Oscar Riedener sketched out the design for the trophy on a napkin for NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle in 1966. It wasn’t initially named after Lombardi — that only happened in 1970 — but it’s always been there for the Super Bowl champion.
What is the Lombardi Trophy made out of?
The Lombardi Trophy is made out of sterling silver.
The process takes four full months to create in a workshop based in Cumberland, Rhode Island, according to Tiffany & Co. It used to be made in New Jersey, but the location switched in 2017.
They make a new one every year, unlike with the NHL’s Stanley Cup. So each team gets to keep its version of the Lombardi Trophy.

How big is the Lombardi Trophy?
The Lombardi Trophy measures 20.75 inches high and weighs seven pounds.
The football that’s featured at the top of the trophy is made the same size as a regulation NFL football (although it weighs more since it’s made out of sterling silver). To create the trophy, sterling silver is heated to 1,000 degrees before being molded into its shape.
