Fifth-year senior guard RJ Davis is North Carolina’s undisputed leader. A year ago, Davis led the ACC with 21.4 points per game and earned consensus first-team All-American honors, steering the Tar Heels to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Expectations are high for Davis and Co. after a stinging upset in the Sweet Sixteen a year ago. And a strong showing against the Phoenix is essential, especially considering the context. In its first six games, North Carolina will play the two highest ranked teams in the country in No. 1 Kansas and No. 2 Alabama.
