Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley live fight updates, results, highlights from 2021 boxing match

By | August 29, 2021

CLEVELAND — After weeks of trash talking and a contentious fight week, the time has finally come for YouTube sensation-turned-boxer Jake Paul and former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley to settle their differences inside a boxing ring.

The undefeated Paul will look to go 4-0 and collect his fourth consecutive knockout against an opponent who is unlike his previous three foes, all of whom were striking novices.

Woodley is making his boxing debut after an MMA career that included him holding the UFC welterweight championship from 2016-19. The 39-year-old has fallen on hard times as of late, going 0-4 in his final four fights with the organization. He’ll step into the ring vs. Paul with that wealth of fighting experience and better striking credentials than Ben Askren, Nate Robinson and AnEsonGib.

The 24-year-old Paul will hold a height and reach advantage, but will that be enough against a seasoned veteran who hasn’t been knocked out in nearly a decade?

Sporting News is tracking live fight updates and round-by-round highlights from Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley and the entire undercard Sunday night at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. Follow for complete results from the 2021 boxing match.

Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley live updates, highlights

8:50 p.m.: Well, you may have gotten a knockout in the first fight but the next fight? Yeah, there is absolutely going to be a body stretched out. Daniel Dubois vs. Jose Cusumano in heavyweight action up next.

Tommy Fury gets by Anthony Taylor with unsatisfying decision

8:42 p.m.: Fury couldn’t get rid of Taylor and the crowd was left unsatisfied. Fury will get the win but was this performance good enough to land a fight with Jake Paul? Probably not.

8:38 p.m.: The crowd is getting restless as Fury has been unable to get rid of Taylor despite having all of the physical advantages. If he wants a fight with Paul, Fury is going to have to finish the job in the fourth and final round.

8:30 p.m.: The size difference between the two is evident after three minutes. Taylor’s only weapon has been an overhand right while Fury is popping the jab and looking to catch Taylor with an uppercut when he comes in. Taylor is game but he needs another weapon if he wants to have a chance.

8:16 p.m.: The first fight on the PPV card will be Tommy Fury (yes, related to Tyson) vs. Anthony Taylor. Fury wins and he’s likely next to fight Jake Paul (if Paul wins). It’s a 180-pound fight. Taylor’s last fight was at lightweight (155) in Bellator. The size difference is absurd. Oh, Dustin Poirier is in the house.

Charles Conwell annihilates Juan Carlos Rubio in three rounds

7:20 p.m.: The crowd here at Rocket Mortgage are a bloodthirsty bunch and they had their appetite satiated as Conwell pulverized Rubio with a brutal barrage of punches in the third round. Rubio was unable to escape the beating and the referee stepped in to save him from further damage. Time of stoppage was 2:49.

7:15 p.m.: Well, we’re just getting started and Conwell has already dropped Rubio in the second round. The crowd is already in rare form. You never see this kind of early for an untelevised fight. It’s going to be a special night.

7:02 p.m.: We’re getting started with the untelevised bout between Cleveland’s Charles Conwell (15-0, 4 KOs) and Juan Carlos Rubio (18-0, 9 KOs).
