The Suns are off to one of the best starts in the NBA, as Phoenix has an 8-1 record and is tied with the Thunder for first in the Western Conference. But the Suns got some bad news Saturday about one of their star players.
Kevin Durant suffered a calf injury Friday night when Phoenix beat the Mavericks, 114-113. It is unclear when exactly the 36-year-old power forward suffered the injury, as the veteran played 37 minutes and finished the game.
Here is what you need to know about Durant’s injury.

Kevin Durant injury update
Durant is expected to miss at least two weeks with a calf strain, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Once those two weeks are up, Durant will be reevaluated to determine how much the injury improved.
Although Durant has dealt with various injuries over the past few years, missing at least 27 games in four of the last five seasons, he did play in 75 games for the Suns last year while playing 37.2 minutes per game.

Durant is off to a very strong start this year, as he leads the Suns in both points per game and minutes per game, and he’s second on the team in rebounds per game. On Friday night vs. Dallas, Durant scored a team-high 26 points as the Suns squeezed out their fourth-straight win and eighth win in their last nine games.
With Durant out, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal will have to take on more responsibility as they’ve done in the past.
