Liverpool vs. PSG live score: UEFA Champions League result, updates, stats as Dembele levels tie

By | March 11, 2025

Ousmane Dembele gave Paris Saint-Germain a 1-0 halftime lead at Anfield to level their captivating UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie on aggregate.

Harvey Elliott came off the bench to give Arne Slot’s side a smash-and-grab 1-0 win at the Parc des Princes last week but, back in front of their own fans, Liverpool started quickly and Mohamed Salah missed a couple of good early chances.

In a role-reversal of six days ago, PSG hit the front against the run of play when Bradley Barcola’s low cross sewed confusion and Dembele smuggled home his 29th goal of the season.

From that point, Luis Enrique’s men were the better side, only for his effervescent front three of Barcola, Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to each waste clear opportunities.

Liverpool vs. PSG live updates, highlights, and commentary

87 minsOhhh Kvaratskhelia! Was that the moment? Dembele enjoys some increasingly rare space inside the Liverpool half and sprays a pass to his fellow forward to cut inside and lash just over.

85 mins: Donnarumma gets up to punch Mac Allister’s corner. It drops on the edge of the box, where Diaz completely slices his volley.

84 mins: Robertson raids into the PSG box. The visitors are getting far too deep. Nunez looks for Salah but the ball is blocked. Now Diaz, whose deflected attempt brings more impressive evasive action from Donnarumma.

81 mins: Nunez chases a long ball, then decides he might have been offside so leaves it for Diaz, who’s already decided to leave it for Nunez. Slapstick stuff and Marquinhos sees it out for a goalkick.

79 minsQUANSAH HITS THE POST! Glorious ball in from Robertson and the substitute test the upright. The offside flag then goes up after Mac Allister gets to the rebound. It certainly wasn’t up against Quansah.

78 mins: Diaz, who’s been at his all-action best in this half, draws a free-kick from Doue.

76 mins: Szoboszlai, over-eager and gives away a needless foul on Mendes that will allow Donnarumma to boot up field. It feels like the onus is on Luis Enrique to make a change here. Perhaps Zaire-Emery or Lee have a role to play in helping PSG re-establish control?

75 mins: Nice near-post run from Quansah, who heads over. And we expected Nunez to be the one coming on with main character energy!

74 mins: Handy start from Quansah, who gets down the right flank and wins his team a corner.

73 mins: Nunez is on for Jota in the planned change but Quansah replaced Alexander-Arnold. That’s a blow for the hosts.

71 mins: Alexander-Arnold is down on the turf and seemingly in some pain. He stretched for a tackle on Vitinha, didn’t get there and looked to twist his leg as he landed.

70 mins: Darwin Nunez will be with us shortly.

67 mins: Barcola makes way for Doue.

66 mins: Salah takes a tumble in the box under a challenge from Mendes. Any contact is outside and the referee waves “play-on”

65 mins: Donnarumma continuing but Desire Doue is coming on for PSG. You would presume not in goal.

63 mins: Donnarumma down and needing some treatment. Not difficult to have suspicions that he’s probably fine and taking the sting out of the game.

61 mins: Some respite for PSG as Vitinha gets some treatment for a knock to the face. He collided with Salah. Here come Liverpool again and Jota has a shot deflected behind.

59 minsDiaz and Salah into the box. They should do better but neither gets the shot away and the chance is gone.

58 mins: More fine work from Donnarumma, who keeps Diaz’s bouncing headed attempt out. Good spell for Liverpool, this.

57 mins: Diaz tenaciously down the left, Mendes half-blocks his cross and it falls to Szoboszlai. Pancho does brilliantly to divert the Austria star’s shot behind.

53 mins: Rasping drive from Alexander-Arnold, saved by Donnarumma! Then there’s all sorts going on! Mendes looks like he might have kicked Szoboszlai going for a diving header, Alexander-Arnold hits the post the rebound is knocked to Szoboszlai, who taps home but the offside flag is up against Diaz for being offside before any of that happened!

46 mins: Diaz drives at Marquinho and is brought down. That’s a yellow card and the skipper will miss the first leg of the quarterfinal if PSG get there. Robertson’s free-kick is headed clear.

Kickoff: 2nd Half

We’re back underway. No changes for either side just yet, Arne Slot has had a useful habit of making decisive substitutions this season.

Halftime

Anfield getting a touch frustrated and PSG lead at the break. Salah passed up a couple of really good chances as Liverpool started quickly but once again Luis Enrique’s men have looked the more well-rounded aside. We’re all square on aggregate with extra-time and penalties on the agenda if there are no further goals.

45 mins: Szoboszlai wants a free-kick right on the edge of the box or perhaps a penalty after Ruiz tangles with him. Referee Kovacs has a good look and declines his appeals.

41 mins: Dembele in off the right and his shot takes a nasty looping deflection off Mac Allister. That was Alisson’s read of it, anyway, but it drops wide.

39 mins: Mendes drives forward from left-back and slips a pass to Kvaratskhelia, who drarts inside and shoots. Too close to Alisson.

36 mins: Liverpool engineer a nice counter-attack from the PSG corner but the flag is up.

35 mins: Now a chance for Kvaratskhelia! Dembele to the right byline, cuts it back and his attacking colleague thunders a strike just over. It took a nick off Gravenberch.

32 mins: Ohhhhhh Dembele might rue that one! Mac Allister is caught on the ball, Kvaratskhelia slides a pass through to the goalscorer but his touch is too heavy and Alisson can mop up.

31 mins: Kvaratskhelia is hounded by three or four Liverpool players in his own half to concede possession. But the Georgian bites back with a meaty tackle on Mac Allister.

29 mins: Donnarumma parries a dinked Salah cross that he should catch. Vitinha hacks out of the box and Robertson slings it back in. The Italy goalkeeper claims this one.

26 mins: Robertson with a searching cross, Jota flings out a leg but Pancho has the situation under control.

25 mins: After that frantic start, the goalmouth action has died down a bit. Mendes clatters a cross way over the Liverpool box, which won’t exactly liven it up.

17 mins: Huge chance for Barcola! PSG should really be 2-0 up. Alexander-Arnold overplays to put his fellow defenders in strife. Barcola is in on goal but the ball is a little behind him. Alisson darts out and smothers a tame shot.

16 mins: Donnarumma out to punch the corner. The PSG goalkeeper has started well.

15 mins: Konate tries to atone from his mistake by thumping a shot from 30 yards. It’s a good effort that bounces awkwardly and Donnarumma does well to turn it behind.

12 minsGOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!! Ousmane Dembele!!!!!

After soaking up all that pressure, PSG stick with their commitment to playing out and Dembele is rewarded with room in the centre circle. He spreads play to Barcola, whose ball between Alisson and Konate sews confusion. The defender can’t clear and Dembele smuggles home. Game on!

10 mins: Another Liverpool corner. Van Dijk gets up, but his header is blocked in the goalmouth. Mac Allister sends it back into the area, Donnarumma gets a punch on the ball as far as Szoboszlai, who clatters out a good 20 rows up the Kop.

6 mins: Salah past Mendes on halfway, driving diagonally towards the PSG box. He looks to pass to Jota but the blocked pass falls back to him and he steers a shot just past the far post. Another chance you’d expect him to take in current form. PSG might have a brewing storm to ride out.

4 minsFantastic block by Mendes!!! PSG almost with a mountain climb. Mac Allister gets into the box, could shoot but squares to Salah. You’d bet good money on his scoring from there but Mendes makes a goal-saving block.

3 mins: Nervy stuff from Robertson, who gives away  a corner from Ruiz’s cross under minimal pressure. Liverpool deal with the corner and then Alisson looks long for Salah. It’s an excellent ball and the hosts are noew on the front foot.

2 mins: Kvaratskhelia gets a first chance to stretch his legs. Konate is across to close the door and takes no chances, knocking the ball back to Alisson, who duly boots it into the Main Stand.

Kickoff: 1st Half

Marquinhos was impassioned in the PSG huddle; Van Dijk more speaking to his team-mates with more measured authority. One of those, Mac Allister, gets us underway. Jota is a touch late on Hakimi and PSG have a free-kick in their own half

5 mins: We’ve just had You’ll Never Walk Alone with all its usual gusto and the teams are in the tunnel. Here they come! PSG are wearing the…checks notes… Paris Fashion Week kit (yes, I know), that they donned for their win over Manchester City in the league phase.

20 mins: A merry band of 3,000 PSG supporters have made the trip to Liverpool and re currently bouncing up and down in the Anfield Road End. They’ve been making their presence felt in the city throughout the day too.

40 mins before kickoff: The winners of this tie will face the victor of the clash between Aston Villa and Club Brugge. Right now the odds are on an all-Premier League quarterfinal, with Unai Emery’s side 3-1 up before welcoming the Belgian side to Villa Park on Wednesday. Barcelona are about to be the first team confirmed into the quarterfinals. They’re 3-1 up on the night and 4-1 on aggregate against Benfica thanks to another gem of a performance from Lamine Yamal.

1 hr 15 mins before kickoff: The teams are in. Diogo Jota gets the nod over Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez in the Liverpool attack. That means both XIs are unchanged from the sides that stepped out at the Parc des Princes. A show for faith from both Arne Slot and Luis Enrique, who appear to be very sure of their best starting lineups.

1 hr 30 mins before kickoff: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was brilliant for PSG in the initial game and the Georgia star is confident he and his team-mates can hit top gear on Merseyside.

Our chances are 50/50, because I think it’s not easy to dominate against Liverpool. We did it [last week] and we showed good football. But this Tuesday the match will be 50/50.

Kvaratskhelia, novo atacante do PSG

Liverpool vs. PSG lineups, team news

Cody Gakpo has returned to Liverpool training after missing the last few matches with an ankle injury and should be ready to see the pitch again in this important Champions League game.

However, Diogo Jota gets the nod to start in attack, meaning it’s the same Liverpool XI that stepped out in Paris.

The only injury concerns for the Reds are the absences of Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez due to muscle issues. The latter is likely out for much of the season, if not the rest of the campaign entirely.

Liverpool (4-2-3-1, right to left): Alisson (GK) — Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson — Mac Allister, Gravenberch — Diaz, Szoboszlai, Salah — Jota.

Liverpool subs: Jaros (GK), Kelleher (GK), Endo, Nunez, Chiesa, Jones, Gakpo, Elliott, Tsimikas, McConnell, Quansah

Incredibly, there are no injury concerns for PSG head coach Luis Enrique to worry about, as he has a fully fit squad at his disposal.

It’s been a stellar season for all three frontline PSG stars, as there has been enough attacking volume to go around for Ousmane DembeleBradley Barcola and new signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. It was Dembele who starred in the first leg for PSG – clearly the best player on the pitch for much of the match even as they were unable to profit from his brilliant display.

PSG are also unchanged from last week and continue with breakout defender Willian Pacho at center-back alongside captain Marquinhos instead of lifetime club servant Presnel Kimpembe who has ridden the bench since returning from an Achilles tear in mid-January.

PSG (4-3-3, right to left): Donnarumma (GK) — Hakimi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Mendes — Neves, Vitinha, F. Ruiz — Kvaratskhelia, Dembele, Barcola.

PSG subs: Safanov (GK), Tenas (GK), Kimpembe, Ramos, Doue, Lee, Hernandez, Mayulu, Zaire-Emery, Beraldo, Mbaye
