40 mins to kickoff: No further delays, so fingers crossed we get going at the new kickoff time. In the meantime, why not have a look at what went down when these teams met in the Champions League in April 2022?

1 hr 10 mins to kickoff: Confirmation now that kickoff has been delayed by half an hour. That’s 8:30 p.m. local time and here’s how that translates worldwide.

KICK-OFF DELAYED: Still no sign of an Atleti XI and this probably has something to do with reports emerging on the ground in Seoul that kickoff will be pushed back due to the torrential rain that has given the playing surface a battering. There is not confirmed time yet, but a delay of half an hour has been mooted. Player safety is always paramount but these are concerning times for Guardiola and Simeone, who will be reluctant to see their squads put at risk on the eve of the new season.

1 hour to kickoff: Here are the 11 City players who will need to make sure they have their most reliable sets of studs on.

1hr 10 mins to kickoff: Without putting too fine a point on it, it’s a bit wet in Seoul.

1 hr 30 mins to kickoff: We’ll have confirmed team news with you in the next half hour or so. This will be City’s first game since Riyad Mahrez’s move to the Saudi Pro League was confirmed. Even though that was hardly a surprise, given he did not join his teammates on this tour, it underlines the opportunity that academy youngsters Cole Palmer, James McAtee and Oscar Bobb have with the Premier League and European champions now a little light in terms of cover on the right wing. Bobb and McAtee have impressed in their preseason outings so far, with the latter opening the scoring against Bayern Munich.

2 hours to kickoff: Hello and welcome to the Sporting News’ live coverage of Manchester City vs. Atletico Madrid from Seoul. The last time these two teams met in the Champions League it ended in a mass brawl between the two teams. Given this is a preseason friendly, here’s to everyone being a lot more relaxed today.
