The first major golf tournament of the year teed off on Thursday with a ton of attention of five-time winner Tiger Woods. He finished -1, which is tied for 11th after Day 1. Sung-jae Im currently leads the field at -5. Australia’s Cameron Smith went into the final hole at -6, but double-bogeyed 18 to close out his round at -4. Dustin Johnson, Scotty Scheffler, Danny Willett and Joaquin Niemann are tied at -3.
Last year’s winner Hideki Matsuyama salvaged his first round at even par, finishing the final six holes -2.
There are 96 golfers competing at the 86th edition of the event, all with their eyes on the green jacket.

TV coverage of the 2022 Masters will be split between CBS and ESPN. The first and second rounds can be watched on ESPN, and the third and fourth rounds can be seen on CBS.

Masters purse 2022
The purse at the 2022 Masters is expected to be the same as last year: $11.5 million. Based on that total, the winner’s share of the prize money would be $2.07 million.
Masters Tournament odds for 2022
Jon Rahm (+900) enters the Masters as the favorite to win, per odds from DraftKings Sportsbook. Rahm won his first major tournament, the U.S. Open, in 2021. He made his Masters debut in 2017 and has finished inside the top-10 the last four appearances.
Scottie Scheffler (+1200), Justin Thomas (+1400), Cameron Smith (+1400) and Dustin Johnson (+1600) round out the rest of the top-five golfers in terms of odds to win the tournament. Scheffler is currently ranked No. 1, coming off a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
